P2
vector –
They are also called graphical modelling, or object-oriented graphics. They are
a type of computer graphics. When you
zoom in on a Vector the picture will not pixilate. They model images as a
collection of pixels. They are based on control points which are connected by
lines and curves called vector paths or vectors.
Bitmap –
These are made up with tiny dots called pixels.
The amount of detail you want in a picture depends on the amount of
pixels per square inch, because the computer needs to store information about every
pixel, a file of a bitmap graphic can be quite large. They use bitmap graphics
software such as Adobe Photoshop or GIMP.
A local band would like a logo designed
for their website this needs to be combined with their band photo.
For this
logo I would use a Bitmap graphic because it uses JPEG which I think would be
the best. A JPEG allows up to 16 million
colours so any colour a band may need to use for a picture/logo would be able
to be used.
A builder wants some eye catching text
for the side of his van to improve business opportunities.
For this I
would use a Vector graphic because it uses PDF which I would be the
best. A PDF means the document is stored
in such a way that the content does not change the way it looks on different
screens, computers and printers as can happen with other file formats.
The nursery on your estate would like a
flyer designed to promote the facility.
For this
flyer I would use a Vector and Bitmap graphic because it used Adobe Illustrator which I think
would be best. Adobe Illustrator is a computer program for making graphic
design and illustrations. This would be best for a nursery that need to create
a leaflet as it can be made bigger or smaller but will look exactly the same at
whatever size.
